President
It shall be the duty of the President to:
- Preside at all meetings of the Association and the Board of Directors.
- Supervise all plans for efficient work of the Association, and perform such other duties as are customarily involved in the work of a president.
- Submit a written report at the last regular business meeting of the school year.
- Shall be an ex-officio member of all committees except the Nomination Committee
- Represent the Association at conferences and meetings.
- Represent the Association at the Massachusetts Teachers Association Annual Meeting of Delegates.
- Serve as the official spokesperson of the Association.
Vice President
It shall be the duty of the Vice President to:
- Assume the duties and responsibilities of the President in case of death, resignation, absence, disability, or at the request of the President.
- Appoint members of all committees with the approval of the President.
- Carry out other such duties as requested by the President.
- Submit a written report at the last regular business meeting of the school year.
Secretary
It shall be the duty of the Secretary to:
- Keep a record of all meetings of the Association and of the Board of Directors.
- Attend to all necessary correspondence for the Association.
- Deliver a copy of the minutes of all meetings and correspondence to the President as soon as practical after each meeting for safe keeping in the Association files.
- Perform any other duties as are customarily involved in the work of a Secretary.
Treasurer
It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to:
- Assume the responsibility for all funds of the Association.
- Collect and deposit or transfer funds in a bank in the name of the Association.
- Disburse funds as authorized by the President of the Association, provide that the appropriate request vouchers have been completed.
- Payments to officers shall be made only when authorized by the President in writing
- Payments to the President shall be authorized by the Vice President or Secretary
- Submit a proposed budget for the next fiscal year at the annual meeting.
- Submit all records kept by the Treasurer to an outside auditor for the purpose of examination at the direction of the Board of Directors and/or at the end of each term in office.
- Submit a written report of the previous year’s financial business to the membership at the first meeting in September.
- Serve as the Membership Coordinator and maintain current files of all active members.
- Perform any other duties as are customarily involved in the work of a Treasurer.
Building/Union Representatives
The Building / Unit Representatives shall be responsible for:
- Distributing Association communications to the membership which they represent.
- Informing their members of upcoming meetings or events.
- Dissemination information, taking surveys, passing out contracts, and gathering information needed for MTA administration.
- Inform the Present of concerns related to employment and/or contractual issues.
- Each Representative must attend 75% of the Association meetings (Board, General, and Special meetings combined) in order to receive a stipend as outlined in the annual budget.
