Social Media Guidance

September 8, 2025

As town politics become more prominent in our school district, and as many MPS staff are residents of Monson, it becomes increasingly important to remember what we “can and can’t do” online on our social platforms. To help us understand the boundaries, I’ve put together a more comprehensive outline of “Dos” and “Don’ts.”

Note: This document was created with the help of AI tool, Gemini (which was trained to specifically relate to MGL, our contracts, and local policies). I have adjusted the language and included footnotes to our union- and district-specific documents to better empower you.

**Remember: All points on this document are recommendations/guidance and do not suppress your freedom of speech. The goal is to help inform so that all decisions regarding public presence can be made with full knowledge of potential consequences.**
